Launching CPD accredited GDPR training for bookkeepers
We are very pleased to launch data protection and GDPR training for bookkeepers accredited for CPD by our partner, the International Association of Bookkeepers.
The online training course ‘data protection & GDPR for bookkeepers’ is offered on Astrid’s learning platform. Available to any bookkeeper, the course has been developed in collaboration with the International Association for Bookkeepers and counts for one hour of CPD for members.
Bookkeepers’ GDPR training content
The course is comprised of bite-sized videos, templates and tests covering both general data protection and bookkeeper specific content including:
An introduction to GDPR
Your responsibilities when handling personal information
The lifecycle of personal information
Breaches of personal data
Good practice when handling personal information
Threats to security: hackers and phishing attacks
Sharing personal information with others
Subject information requests
Data protection issues for bookkeepers
Everything you need to have set up to comply with GDPR
Those that work through all the elements and complete the course are issued with a certificate which provides the evidence International Association of Bookkeepers needs to validate the CPD. IAB Members can access the course for the members’ price of £24.99 but with a standard price of only £39.99, the course is affordable for all bookkeepers. IAB members should visit the IAB website to obtain their discount code.
CPD with the International Association of Bookkeepers
With Covid-19 affecting physical attendance at training events, the IAB is keen to help members to complete their CPD requirements. The hour CPD provided by our data protection & GDPR course meets the IAB’s training requirements if members submit their course certificate with their CPD log sheet and evidence.
Why is GDPR training important?
The ICO expects everyone who handles personal information to receive data protection training and have a basic understanding of their, and the organisation’s, responsibilities. The ICO also want to see that the organisation has a record of this.
The majority of data problems arise from human error. In 2019, eight out of every ten data incidents reported to the ICO were caused by simple human error (rather than a computer hacker attack). The regulator dislikes problems that happen but could have been prevented with basic knowledge and simple training!
